BlogtoberFest 2013 Day 3

Thursday's Thoughts....

Yesterday I went to paint at a friend's house, I worked on an old painting that I had been playing with over the past week - adding Jacobean Flowers.  I think the background will be too busy for the flowers but that's ok for now as it's an old painting.

Bottom right is the second painting on this canvas and bottom middle, minus the orange splotches (it was after I added them that I remembered to take the photograph) is the third painting on this canvas. Then I added a layer of transparent gesso and a rainbow layer. Top right and middle are stencil layers and top left is where I'm adding the flowers - they may need a layer of white under them to bring out their colours.

My first BlogtoberFest challenge was in 2011 and it was on this day two years ago that our dog Tessa died.  My beautiful friend, who at the time was my online art buddy until we met in September 2012, Lin from Michigan created this gorgeous painting of her.  She looks sad in it but it was based on the last photo I took her.

We have no plans to get another dog but look forward to one day babysitting our son's puppies - if and when they have any.

  1. Awww... thank you for the shout out! I love how you have framed your Tessa. It adds to the painting.
Someone once told me that every canvas is not meant to be a masterpiece, but there is always something you can learn from it. I think every artist has a piece of work in their studios that lessons were learned but the outcome wasn't what they had in mind. Art is experimentation and growth to me.
