Create Something Wild & Wonderful & Amazing

I did a little art therapy today - collage, sketching and 'painting'.

I started collaging the box I bought for Life book 2012 with some left over scraps of scrapbooking paper.  I found some with great words on them.

Inspire.  Create something wild & wonderful & amazing.

I've also started the Fabulous Faces with the profile faces instead of facing portrait in week 1.  They look a lot like Tam's so I'll have to practice a little more and stylise her a bit more.

My BF and art buddy, Sandra, gave me a canvas as I haven't been able to get any and I put the first layer onto it today....

Any ideas of what I should do with this canvas???  Oh you're not thinking what I'm thinking are you?  A face???   Noooo...this canvas is big 30" x 30" or 76cm x 76cm.... we'll see....  ;)

Dear Steve,

Thank you for your words of wisdom, for Pixar, Toy Story and one of my favourite movies of all time Monsters Inc.

I don't own a Mac or iPod (though I do have a shuffle :D) or an iPhone (soon I hope) or an iPad but these creations and innovations have changed our lives and provided great competition.

Today I listened to your Commencement Speech  on youtube and found these words resonated with me.

Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.  Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart even when it leads you off the well worn path, and that will make all the difference.

I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes lifes gonna hit you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love.   And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking and don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking.  Don't settle.

Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Shopping...

I'm not really into shopping, maybe if I had a daughter then I would be, but I just wanted to share some of the things I bought today....

I bought this blue box for the Life Book 2012 course at willowing with Tam - it's to put the pages of the book in that we are working on to keep it safe.  There were two boxes in the pack so I'll use the other one to put Life Book bits and pieces in too. 

Even though I love the blue colour I still plan to collage and paint it and decorate it so stay tuned as I will take photos and blog about it along the way - a project ot do before it starts.

I also went through our photos and chose some of my dog Tessa to print out and frame, to put on the wall and for my boys for their rooms.

I also bought some black pants to wear on Saturday to the York Art Awards, and some clothes for my son as well as some ground beef/mince to make spaghetti bolganese for dinner - which I better get on with since I never had lunch.....unless you count coffee and doughnuts....

Have you bought any thing special that made you smile lately?

Our beloved dog Tessa, a golden retriever, passed away overnight from snake bite.  We love you and will miss you beautiful girl.

I have entered two paintings, Spring Blossoms and Butterfly Windows, into the York Art and Craft Awards. Opening ceremony is next Saturday and I'm really hoping they sell.
