After my niece, Alysha Chappell, opened her online baby boutique called Milky's Miracles I was inspired to create some art for a baby's nursery.

Painting Sold and Days 8 & 9

Did you see my friend June Stevens on the 30x30x30 Challenge blog today?

Day 8 of the 30x30x30 Challenge - spent some time deciding what goes on each canvas, am working on 18  right now,  and blocking out.  I normally paint what I want when I want so I found it challenging to say 'ok today you have to paint all day and get something done'.

Day 9 I spent an hour or so adding another layer of white and some bling colours:

My Pink Confetti Tree painting at the Beverley Art Exhibition sold over the weekend - woohoo - that will help pay for more paint and canvases or some more classes with local mixed media artist Neil Elliott.

Beverley Art Exhibition

Today, June and I went took our paintings to Beverley, a small country town about an hour or so away, to enter them into the Beverly Art Exhibition which will be held over the Easter weekend.

Beverley Aeronautical Museum and Information Centre

At the entrance you'll see a Vampire Jet No. A79-638. This aircraft was a two-seat trainer. Australia built almost two hundred of this type.

Beverley Station Gallery - Built in 1886 in the Victorian Tudor style, the Beverley Railway Station was the hub of activity when Beverley was an important stop on the Perth to Albany passenger line. Closed in October 1984, the Railway Station fell into disrepair, but after much hard work by both the community and council was beautifully restored in 2006. 

30x30x30 Challenge Accepted

I have been accepted to be one of the 30 artists who will create 30 works in 30 days for the 30x30x30 Challenge Art Exhibition and Sale.  Each piece will be 8in square = 20cm square and I will be painting them in April. The works are signed on the back and are not hung together.  The 900 paintings will be exhibited and for sale for $50 each on Sept 15th/16th at Darlington Hall, Darlington, Western Australia.

Some of the challenges for me will be:

- the size of the canvas - I prefer larger canvases so these ones are tiny for me.
- adapting my style to the size of the canvas.
- creating 30 works in a style that people will recognise their similarity.
- painting them and storing them whilst drying in my studio aka my kitchen.

I'm really excited to be part of this fundraiser for a local school and can't wait to get my paint on.

Facebook Local Arts and Crafts Group

Yesterday I sold this painting through my local arts and crafts market group on Facebook.  I have only sold a few paintings to my aunt and a few of my pendants through my personal Facebook page.  some people sell heaps of their art through their personal page but not me so I was glad to find another avenue to sell my art through.

People in my local area in the Perth hills have made the following Facebook groups:

How many neighbourhood groups are you part of? 

Do you have an arts and crafts group for your local area? 

Why not join it and show your arts and crafts and even make a few sales.  If you don't have one then start one, invite all your local friends to join and advertise in one of your other local facebook groups.

I only upload photos of paintings that I have at home, and I wait for people to ask for a price before giving it out but I did start an album in which I gave a price range and for all paintings I give a medium and a size.  You could state 'special Facebook price $X'.

Go for it!!  Have fun!!!  Sell a few paintings!!!  :D

Pendants 11/11/11

Today is 11/11/11 so I'm setting this blog to post at 11:11am.  Wow!!

I've been working hard on getting my pendants ready for sale at this weekend's art show at the community centre and here they are:

I'll let you know on Monday how many I sold.  Today and Saturday I'll be helping hang paintings and get ready for the art show, on Sunday I'll be doing a painting demo and helping kids paint.

Painting Update

Today, the local newspaper came to the community centre to take a photograph of me with my painting and other artists and their work for an article for the paper, so that will be good publicity for the Art Sale at the end of the month.

This is my latest painting that I'm working on, still a little more decorating to go.

Before...

I'll be away for a couple of weeks on a research and photography trip in the Kimberleys in north-west of Western Australia aka having a holiday!!!!  Really hoping to take a plane flight to provide some great photos for inspiration for abstract landscape paintings and I may even get to see a boab tree!!!  I'll be taking my sketchbook and my watercolour pencils and a pad of watercolour paper too to keep the creativity going.
