Nordlingen and Rothenburg ob der Tauber

29TH AND 30TH JULY, 2018

NORDLINGEN, GERMANY

Wiki says;  It was built in an impact crater, and was first mentioned in recorded history in 898, and in 1998 the town celebrated its 1100th anniversary. The town was the location of two battles during the Thirty Years' War, which took place between 1618–1648. Today it is one of only three towns in Germany that still has a completely established city wall, the other two being Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Dinkelsbühl.

We stopped in Nordlingen for lunch and it was a surprise to find such an interesting town. It is a medieval walled city built in a crater. After lunch we walked around part of the wall.

ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER, GERMANY

After visiting  Nordlingen we traveled onto Rothenburg ob der Tauber which is also a medieval walled city. In the evening we went on a Night Watchman's tour which was interesting and funny. We also went to the Criminal Museum where I found out what an Iron Maiden really is and we ate a   Schneeball, deep-fried dough shaped like a snowball and covered in either confectioner's sugar or chocolate.
