Paint Your Pants Off Day

Today is....Paint Your Pants Off Day!!!!  bahahaha that sounds a little naughty.....but it isn't -  it's very arty instead.

So hubby is away today riding his dirt bike with his mates so I decided I would paint.  I still haven't got back that excitement I used to have a year or so ago....so it could be safe to say that the honeymoon phase is over.  Boohooohoo this actually makes me very sad so I really do hope I'm wrong.  I'm trying other things hoping to fall in love all again.....

I digress.  I pulled out the old paintings that I collaged over with old papers and then put background layers on them.  Today I painted some abstract flowers on them using the palette knife and the brush as an experiment to see how it would go and if it was fun.

I think I need to lengthen the stems on the flowers after I painted over them....  I think I prefer the palette knife paintings - the top two - to the brush painting.....

Here are the evolution photos to see how they have changed:

Whilst they were drying I got out my gelli plate and made some more prints.

And this is my art journal in which I added all the left over paint from the brayer/roller and the stencils and texture paper I used.

Well, I better go clean up my art studio aka the kitchen so I get dinner started.  Have a great arty weekend and I might be back tomorrow with Sunday Snippets.....

Gelli Print Truth Cards

I have made lots of truth cards from my gelli prints for the Brave Girls Club to send out to people around the world - to women's refuges, to victims of natural disasters and human trafficking.  Why?  Well, read them and tell me how they make you feel?

Not only were they great fun to make but they were very uplifting as well - imagine saying all these encouraging words over and over again which is what happens when you create them.

If you would like to make some to send to the Brave Girls Club, or for yourself, a teenage girl in your life or a friend who might need them then you will find the instructions here.

I used some left over pieces of gelli prints, rolled some paint onto the back of them, added some stamps and some sticker borders too.  They are finished for now but I may get out my paints and add a bit more detail to them.

This is also a great activity to do with your teenage daughter.....

Do you have a favourite one?  I do.  ;D

ETA:  Do you love creating gelli prints?  Want a place to discuss gelli printing?  To show off your work?  Share your ideas? Discuss the pros and cons of different paints/paper/plates/tools etc?  Get some great ideas on what to do with the thousands of prints you have created?

Then I would love you to join me at the Gelatin Printing Enthusiasts Facebook Group. This group is open to people who use a Gelli Arts Plate or who make their own gelatin plate.
