This month Louise Gale's Creative Colour Challenge was red and roses so I decided to take a photo of this red rose whilst at my mother-in-laws house recently.
And here's a red rose I painted in 2010...

Wednesday Workshop
At Wednesday's mixed media art workshop with Neil Elliott I worked on an oil crayon drawing with a wash over it. This is the one I did, it's no masterpiece but a great first time practice learning experience...
Before the washes...
Neil gave me his demo painting. SCORED!!!! I nearly offered him the painting above in return!! bahahaha
Painting titles: What came first? The bunny or the chocolate egg? (or the dog and the potato?? - Dear Husband).
Love his batman mask and his boots. hehehe
I did a practice girl at home over the weekend - her face is painted with Caran d'Ache Neocolor crayons and the rest is in oil crayons with an acrylic wash over it. It didn't turn out how I expected tit to...
I also added some red to this painting as I felt it was too busy and that my eyes needed a soft spot to fall...better???

I hope your week is going well and that you are getting up to some fun arty stuff!!!

Meet Sunday
Last Sunday I started a new girl after painting Saturday - I didn't like her hair so I decided to just paint the background and not collage it. I've decided I'll do a few more in this style.
Saturday - I played around with her hair and her face....argh....:

Wednesday Workshop
Yesterday I attended Neil Elliott's Mixed Media Workshop and worked on my sewing pattern paintings....I love the texture they create.
And here's Neil showing us about using wax crayons with a wash over the top - love his illustrationy style...
This week I will prepare my watercolour paper with a couple of girlies on them for the workshop next week.

heArt exchange
Last month I participated in Louise Gale's Your Heart Makes A Difference heArt exchange, creating a gift from the heart and sending it out into the world.
I sent a mixed media girly portrait to Jill, A Thousand Shades of Grey as during May I spent a lot of time creating faces. This is a likeness of Jill, not a portrait/exact replication of her but a painting she will recognise as herself (does that make sense?). I used texture paste for the hair, first time for me, and that has a great effect and must use it more often - needs to dry overnight and I lack patience. The scrapbooking papers which I collaged on have words on them or butterflies as Jill is a writer.
Jill is much prettier than in my painting..
I received this beautiful notebook from Jill, which is just what I need to take with me to Squam Fall 2012 in September to write and draw in....
On the inside there is a wish/dream pocket to pop your wishes and dreams into:
Many thanks to Jill for making the notebook and to Louise for organising the heArt exchange - love and hugs to you ladies.

Wednesday Workshop
On Wednesdays I go to a mixed media art workshop with local artist Neil Elliott. Congrats to Neil who won the Mixed Media Art Prize at the Canning Art Awards last Friday evening.
This is Neil's latest painting which he had a lot of fun painting and trying out some new techniques on.
Here's what I've been working on:
I have no idea what to call it...Follow the colourful bubble wrap road.....
Previously....
And here's another one I started at last week's workshop- it could be finished but I would like to add some finer details to it....
Previously - I remembered in class as I was pulling the tape off to take a photo with my iPhone:
Last week:
So I liked this one so much I started another, just love gluing on the sewing patterns and will go with roads/houses/trees and the same green/blue colour scheme. Neil asked me how this one was going to be different to the first one and I replied that I didn't know but now I do - I'd like to add some colour to the above one so this one will have the roads taped and a warm red wash painted on, then more taping of houses/trees and then more paint.
Hope you are having as much fun with your art as I am.
Ciao for now.
