May Flower Challenge
My friend Lori Moon is having a May Flower challenge and I decided to be part of it so I collected some frangipani flowers to photograph but then my car broke down and needed a new battery and I left the frangipanis in the car which went back to the dealer to be diagnosed and my flowers died.
So I took some photos of the flowers at my mum's house earlier this week:

Experimenting
I've been experimenting with watercolour paper and acrylic paints and using the roller/brayer with a bit of stamping to create images and paintings in their own right and if they don't work out they'll make nice homemade bookmarks or paper for collaging.
Have you been experimenting lately?

Olive Picking
Today, my hubby and I helped out some friends of ours with picking their olive orchard. The weather was beautiful and sunny, the company was chatty and the food was scrumptious. We had a great time and I'll go back tomorrow to help out some more.
Hope you had a great day too.

More of My Girls...
In Saturday's post I mentioned adding Adele's lyrics to my painting, well, I have and did you know that the song Make You Feel My Love was written by Bob Dylan...
Emerald with Adele lyrics...
Argh, where her nose and forehead meet is too low and she has too much forehead....
Started a new one today, but there was too much graphite on the paper....learn from my mistakes.... :D
Topaz - I'm still thinking about the background.
And another - my plans for today fell through and since I spent yesterday doing 5 loads of washing and 2 lots of ironing whilst cleaning the house - this left me some time to paint today...
She's drying at the moment (glue and texture paste) and I will work on her tomorrow if the day of olive picking is ruined by rain...

Emerald
Meet my latest girl named Emerald.....
I was going to create a girl with these scrapbooking papers of maps in the background and the words from the Adele song 'Make You Feel My Love' written in the hair in black pen/paint so I may have to create another girl and leave the hair until after the background is finished.
"I could make you happy
Make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends
Of the Earth for you
To make you feel my love"
Now I have just left her as she is in the first photo and have decided to think about it for a few hours/days...

Meet Eliza Blue and Rose
When she was blue, she dreamed of happiness and love in the arms of her soulmate.
Eliza Blue, Mixed Media, 30cm x 40cm/ 12" x 16"
My 20 year old son suggested she have blue hair, he was just teasing me at the time and not serious at all - won't he be surprised!!! My husband says she can't have blue, I replied that many of my arty friends who like to draw girls often give them different coloured hair.
So the challenge is on - different coloured hair and different styles of hair and I'll be using a smaller colour palette, colour themes, crazy hair and song lyrics too. My girls need words but the words are just not coming to me - Eliza Blue's background doesn't really allow for words as it's too busy and she has words from scrapbooking paper showing through - which is where I got the first sentence from.
Here's my previous girl aka Girl2 but now known as Rose - she has been finished off and framed though her background does allow for more stamping or words:

Now I just need to decide on a name for my other girl... Does she look like a Tara???
I will create a few more girls this month....
Today I handed over my 30 canvases for the 30x30x30 Challenge organisers to store until the exhibition in mid September. :D
